ABOUT
A ‘little bit country and a whole lot of rock and roll’ describes powerhouse singer-songwriter recording artist, performer and vocal coach Dahlia Wakefield. Born in the Philippines, Dahlia was raised in the small rural town of Maidstone, Saskatchewan.
After working on both sides of the border in Lloydminster, Alberta, like many artists from humble beginnings, she left when rock ’n’ roll and the bright lights of the big city of Edmonton, Alberta beckoned where she attended the Grant MacEwan University Music Program to hone her craft. She majored in Vocal Performance and graduated with Distinction.

Not only is writing, performing and recording her passions but yet another of Dahlia’s interests is teaching. She has been a professional vocal and beginner piano coach since 2011. With her vast experience in stage performance throughout the years, Dahlia loves teaching people of all ages and skill levels and specializes in teaching vocal exercises, vocal health, harmonies and providing constructive criticism with song choices and more.

As a performer, songwriter, recording artist, mentor, band member, manager, agent and promoter of many successful acts, multifaceted artist Dahlia wears many hats and has been touted by many various people in the industry as “the hardest working woman in show business in Edmonton” … and “a force to be reckoned with”.

As a songwriter, Dahlia was a finalist in several international songwriting competitions with some of her original songs. Over the years, she has released three solo albums and several singles: “Let’s Talk About Love”, “All The Way To Heaven”, “Unsatisfied”, “You Don’t Get To Win”, “Visiting Hours” and “Poison”, an Alice Cooper cover, two duets: “While The City Sleeps” that she co-wrote with rock artist Zackaria as well as “This I Know” with country artist Stirling John. Dahlia and Stirling are co-writers on Stirling’s single called “Weight of the Call” and Dahlia’s single “Visiting Hours”, a tribute to her Dad.

Her last single is “Now’s The Time” released on Nov 27, 2023 and “Still Waters” was released March 11, 2024.
She has also released three albums with Dirt Road Angels, including her own songs “Little One” and “Enjoy the Ride”. They’ve also officially released several videos as well as ten singles to Canadian country and satellite radio, with their songs “Extra Dirty” and “Call it Home” both hitting #1 on the Euro Chart. Nominated as ACMA Group and Fans Choice of the Year for the past seven years in a row, the Dirt Road Angels have had the opportunity to open for many top U.S. and Canadian country acts.

Her first public performance was at the tender age of 5; Dahlia has been performing ever since!
Dahlia has been performing professionally in various bands with talented guitarist/singer Alan Tymofichuk for the past 20 years. From their first trio The X-Factor with Al Dobish in 2000 opening for Nokie Edwards and the Ventures, The Hellecasters, Albert Lee, etc. has now become The Dahlia & Alan Duo. They are also band members of the Dirt Road Angels (aka DRA) and cover band Dahlia & The Villains, performing to packed dance floors throughout Alberta for the past several years.
Dahlia also performs in 80s metal cover band SHOCKER, and her newest band is hard rock band KEROSENE. She also enjoys performing with her Heart Tribute band Brigade as “Ann”. Her “sister Nancy” is fellow Dirt Road Angel Karen Claypool.
Dahlia also enjoys performing solo at various retirement homes throughout Alberta, finding it a heartwarming experience for both Dahlia and her listeners, bringing them back to the days of their youth as they listen with tears in their eyes while listening to the familiar “oldies” that she sings.
Music will always be Dahlia’s passion as she reaches for the stars and teaches other to do the same regardless of age. She’s in it for the long haul and looks forward to a lifetime of making and performing music!
